The volunteer goes one step further to hand over the pension

A volunteer who traveled nearly 600 km to deliver the retirement pension to a beneficiary in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, was congratulated by District Collector G. Veerapandian for his exemplary commitment to the service.

The volunteer identified as Sreenivasulu from the village of Gondiparla in the Kurnool district made his way to M. Lakshmi Devi (60), also resident in Gondiparla, so that he could do her biometric scan and hand over the three months. Pension amount of £ 6,750.

Ms. Lakshmi Devi went to Ahmednagar three months ago to be with her son and was stuck with the lockdown. Mr Sreenivasulu, who returned to Kurnool on Tuesday after completing the task, said if she did not receive a pension for three consecutive months, she would not be eligible for a pension. He said he went the extra mile to make sure the woman wasn’t disqualified for receiving a pension.
