Fr Gopala Krishna, one of the three arrested in connection with the Sangam Dairy scandal, was taken to the central prison on May 1st.
The 65-year-old managing director of Sangam Milk Producers Company Limited (Sangam Dairy-Guntur), P. Gopala Krishna, tested positive for COVID-19 on the night of May 3rd and is now fighting in the District Government Hospital (DGH) in Rajamahendravaram life in the East Godavari district.
On May 1st, Mr. Krishna was transferred from Vijayawada ACB custody to Rajamahendravaram Central Prison. On May 3, he complained of breathing problems but tested negative for COVID-19 in the prison, according to central prison authorities.
On the evening of May 3, he showed symptoms of COVID-19 and was taken to the DGH in the city.
The superintendent of the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison, S. Raja Rao, said The Hindu, “P. Gopala Krishna has tested positive for COVID-19 and is fighting for life in the DGH, Rajamahendravaram. His health is serious according to the preliminary medical reports. “
