Focus on a pandemic rather than demolishing opposition leaders’ buildings, says former BJP MLA

The state government should focus on the pandemic raging in all districts, including Visakhapatnam, rather than demolishing buildings belonging to opposition leaders, said former BJP-MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju.

“There is no vaccine availability and approximately 1,700 people I know who took Covaxin as the first dose have waited over 10 days for the second dose, but the state government is unable to give them the second dose.” he claimed.

“Medicines are running out in medical stores and ordinary men cannot get beds in state hospitals. You are unable to turn to private hospitals because of the exorbitant rates, but the government is not addressing these issues. Instead of focusing on these requirements, they are busy demolishing houses by engaging the GVMC officials, ”he claimed.

Night curfew

The former BJP MLA also criticized the nightly curfew. “What is the use of imposing a curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.? Instead, they can do this from 8pm to 5am for better effectiveness, ”he said.

‘Delay in test results’

He claimed that it was extremely late to get the RT-PCR test results. “An ordinary man has to wait three to four days for the test results and misses treatment during the critical first few days because the results are delayed. The government should ensure that the results are available as private laboratories within 24 hours by hiring more laboratory technicians and experts, ”said Vishnu Kumar Raju.

He also called on the state government to review the pandemic situation at least a week before board exams and then take one final call.

Mr Raju said the government should also make drugs like remdesivir available to private hospitals that are not registered as COVID hospitals but treat coronavirus patients.
