An interruption in the oxygen supply resulted in the death of at least two Covid-19 patients in the Maharaja Government Hospital in the early hours of Monday.
Hospital director Gowri Sankar confirmed two deaths and said other patients in critical condition have been transferred to a private hospital. Those that are stable are treated with special care.
District collector M. Hari Jawaharlal and other officials rushed to the hospital and took steps to get the patients to safety. Mr. Jawaharlal related The Hindu This oxygen is sourced from a facility in Pydibhimavaram in the Srikakulam district to ensure there is no shortage.
At first glance, it appeared that the oxygen supply cables in the hospital were damaged. The hospital authorities tried to restore the oxygen supply.
Around 290 patients are treated at the Maharaja Government Hospital.
