The district recorded 844 new COVID-19 infections Thursday morning, bringing the total number of cases to 71,341.
This is the second day in a row that the district has recorded over 800 cases in one day. In addition, this is now the highest daily count in the past seven months. The death toll also rose to 575 in the past 24 hours, following the death of another person from COVID-19.
In the last cases, a total of 9,043 COVID-19 cases were registered this month. Up to 29 people succumbed to the virus in April.
Up to 421 people treated for COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 65,311. The number of active cases rose to 5,455.
