With the rise in COVID deaths, the need for more electric crematoria is increasingly felt. Krishna District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz said Friday that two more electric crematoriums would soon be built in the city of Vijayawada.
Mr Imtiaz checked the COVID situation with officials from the Revenue, Municipal Corporation and Government Hospital and said that in addition to the existing electric crematorium in Krishna Lanka, two more would soon be showing up in Singhnagar and Vidyadharapuram.
He directed officials to ensure that the bodies in the morgue of people who died while being treated for COVID at the Government General Hospital were promptly returned to their families and that all COVID norms should be strictly followed, both by the affected persons the cases in the hospital and the family members of the deceased.
Joint Collector (Development) L, Shiv Shankar, Vijayawada Sub-Collector HM Dhyanchand, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Mohan Rao, District Tax Officer M. Venkateswarlu, and GGH Resident Medical Officer Hanumantha Rao were present.
