Morphing case: HC instructs Devineni to appear in front of the CID on April 29th

Andhra Pradesh Supreme Court Justice R. Raghunandan Rao on Thursday ordered former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao to appear before the CID on April 29 to investigate the allegedly transformed video of Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, which he had shown asking questions at a press conference in Tirupati recently.

With that in mind, Justice ordered Raghunandan Rao not to take any coercive measures against Mr. Umamaheswara Rao until the next hearing on May 7th.

Mr. Umamaheswara Rao was accused of showing a video in which Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy allegedly made a comment that “any cardiologist or advanced graduate wants to live in Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Delhi but doesn’t in Odisha, Bihar or Tirupati. “

The President of the YSRCP District Legal Cell, N. Narayana Reddy, had filed a complaint that the video was produced from two different sources, including some of the Chief Minister’s remarks on his vision for health care in the state and the outcome of his discussions in New Delhi on various subjects.

The complainant said that two real videos had been manipulated to create a false impression.

Justice Raghunandan Rao dismissed the petitioner’s argument that Advocate General S. Sriram could not replace the regular prosecutor on the matter as the AG insisted that Section 302 CrPC allow him to pursue any criminal case without prior court approval . The plea that Mr Narayana Reddy did not have location-based status has also been refuted.
