The congress forms the COVID control panel to reach those in need

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) formed a COVID-19 Control Committee made up of party leaders and support staff on Thursday to oversee the pandemic situation in Vijayawada and Hyderabad.

The Chairman of the APCC Legal Cell, V. Gurunandham, is the panel’s coordinator, while the Party’s Vice-President, G. Gangadhar, is the adviser. Eleven other members are on the committee.

APCC President S. Sailajanath said the committee will work around the clock and coordinate with the DCC presidents every four hours to find solutions to the COVID-19 problems.

Committee members will submit daily reports to the APCC President, a copy of which will also be forwarded to the AICC.

At a meeting in virtual mode with the party leaders, Mr Sailajanath said that the vaccination campaign was progressing slowly and urged the authorities concerned to speed up the process.

He said treatment for Covid should fall under the Aarogyasri system and everyone in the state should be vaccinated for free.

‘Abort SSC, intermediate exams’

He also called for the 10th grade and intermediate exams to be canceled, the GO 77 repealed, and the benefits of the Jagananna Vidya Deevena and Jagananna Vasathi Deevena programs to be extended to every student completing a higher education.

He said the party would set up district-level bodies in addition to the state Covid Control Committee to oversee and reach out to the departments in need.
