Vaccination centers see a rush when cases increase

People rushed to the meeting venues to take the bump as the intensity of the coronavirus on the south coast of Andhra Pradesh did not subside as 10 people succumbed to the infection while 1,652 ((1,347 in Nellore) tested positive within 24 hours.

Nellore County was responsible for eight deaths, bringing the toll to 550.

With two other deaths, the number of victims in Prakasam district rose to 596, according to a health bulletin published by the state government on Tuesday. The number of active cases rose rapidly to 7,732 in the region, including 3,522 in Prakasam district, the highest number in recent times.

That brought the number to 1.36,008, with Nellore making up 69,483 and Prakasam making up 66,525. Only 274 people, including 226 in the SPSR Nellore district, have recovered from their illness in the past 24 hours.

The 250 or so meeting venues set up in the region to administer the vaccine were a beehive full of activity as more and more people realized the importance of taking the vaccine.

10,000 vaccinated in one day

According to health officials, over 10,000 people in the two districts had been vaccinated by evening. Only 805 of the total of 4,210 active cases in Nellore District required hospital treatment. The Nellore District Additional Medical and Health Officer, R Swarnalatha.

“Enough beds”

“We have enough beds with oxygen supply and drug supplies to be able to treat more patients if necessary,” she said, and monitored the vaccination campaign at 135 meeting locations.

People should follow COVID safety protocols to avoid contracting the disease, which continued to spread due to people’s poor behavior, said Dr. Swarnalatha.

In the Prakasam district, 848 of the 3,522 positive patients from hospitals were treated. “The health of others will be closely monitored after the medical equipment is provided,” said Prakasam DMHO P. Ratnavalli.

The district’s health administration is fully geared to responding to any flare-up in new cases, she said, while overseeing ongoing vaccination campaigns at 116 meeting locations across the district.
