A 62-year-old farmer from the Chittoor district successfully underwent a heart transplant as part of the state YSR Aarogyasri program in a hospital in Bengaluru.

Dr. A. Mallikarjuna, CEO of the Dr. YSR Aarogyasri Health Care Trust said in a press release that beneficiary, M. Krishna Reddy, a poor farmer from the Punganuru community, has had heart disease for four years.

The operation was performed on April 12th at MS Ramaiah Narayana Hrudayalaya Heart Care Center and the cost of treatment of £ 11 was provided by the state government under the program.

Second operation

Dr. Mallikarjuna said that in November 2019, the state government facilitated treatment in hospitals in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and other cities under the program, and many benefited from it. He said this was the second such operation in Bengaluru.

Mr. Reddy and his family thanked Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for expanding the program to specialty hospitals in other states.
