Children are waiting for COVID tests at Anantapur GGH

Parents in Anantapur District were alerted when six more school girls tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. The number of positive cases has grown exponentially over the past week. From just 40 to 50 a day seven days ago, it hit 334 on Thursday. There were just 197 positive cases on Wednesday. Five KGBV students, Roddam, tested positive on Wednesday.

In Kurnool district, the number of positive cases doubled in one day, reaching 626 on Thursday, with two reported deaths from both Anantapur and Kurnool districts and the cumulative number rising to 613 and 505, respectively.

The Bukkapatnam Tahsildar attended Girls High School along with the Medical Officer and the Mandal Education Officer and ordered all other students in the school to be tested. The girls received treatment and medical equipment by sending them home for isolation. Your condition is stable, said the Tahsildar.

Meanwhile, at Anantapur Government Hospital, large numbers of young schoolchildren queued at the outpatient registration desk where the COVID-19 tests were being performed.

They said they would all return to their hostels in the city but had been asked to have the RT-PCR test done before entering their respective hostels. Parents who accompanied some students said the government should have arranged the tests in their dormitories or schools.
