Ambedkar, a great son of India, says governor

Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan paid tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar on the occasion of his 130th birthday in Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

The governor holding a portrait of Dr. BR honored Ambedkar with flowers, called him a great son of India who fought for the rights of the Dalits and the emancipation of oppressed sections of society.

He said Dr. Ambedkar is an economist, lawyer, politician and social reformer who tirelessly fought against social discrimination against Dalits and raised his voice against the injustice, discrimination and inequality of the Dalit community.

“DR. BR Ambedkar was the main architect of the constitution, with the rule of law being the most important part of the constitution,” he said.

India’s constitution is considered the best in the world as it guarantees freedom of speech, freedom of expression, equality before the law and equal protection of justice for all citizens, he added.
