The magnificence characterizes Ugadi festivals in Tirumala


Religious fervor marked the celebrations of Telugu Plava nama Ugadi in the temple of Lord Venkateswara here on Tuesday.

Special rituals were performed in the temple to greet the New Year. Soon after the rituals were completed before dawn, “Visesha Samarpana” was given to the deities of Malayappa and his two divine companions, followed by a large procession around the Vimana Prakaram in the inner temple.

Later, the presiding deity was solemnly adorned with new silk robes, and the event was followed by Asthanam and the traditional Panchanga Sravanam at Bangaru Vakili (golden gate) in the temple.

The temple was colorfully decorated with different colors of aromatic flowers and fruits that were appropriate for the occasion. About eight tons of flowers as well as 70,000 cut flowers and several tons of fruit were used to upgrade the entire temple complex.

About 100 flower artists, specially invited from Karnataka and Telangana for this purpose, worked for more than three days to decorate the temple and its districts.

The fruit-carved Dasavathara images of Maha Vishnu and the idols of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy etched with navadhanyams were the highlight for the followers of the followers.

Books published

Later the TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy published five books together with the executive officer KS Jawahar Reddy – Vaikhanasa Mahima Manjiri, Sri Uttama Brahma Vidyasaara, Vaikhanasopakhyaanam, Trisati and Dhyana Mukthavali – published in collaboration with Sri Venkateswara University.

A coffee table book Tirumala – Kaliyuga Vaikuntam With a comprehensive analysis of the hill temple, its structural significance, its administrative set-up, the facilities extended to the visiting pilgrims, and a photographic representation of various religious events and festivals that were carried out in the mountain temple has also been published.
