The house guard shoots the woman

A security guard reportedly shot his wife to death in Bhavanipuram, town on Monday.

The defendant, Vinod Kumar, was affiliated with the additional police superintendent, Sashikanth, in the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) and looked after the chief minister’s security.

The extra SP reportedly handed their 9mm pistol (service weapon) to the home guard before leaving the station.

Vinod Kumar reportedly fell in love with Surya Prabha, 25, and married her two years ago. He had recently mortgaged her gold jewelry with a private finance company and the couple had argued over the subject for several days. Surya Prabha had asked him about her ornaments on Sunday evening and they had a heated argument, whereupon Vinod Kumar reportedly opened fire and killed her immediately.

Police Commissioner B. Srinivasulu, as well as Deputy Police Commissioner Vikrant Patil and Deputy Commissioner of the West Zone Police (AKP) K. Hanumantha Rao visited the site.

“The police asked why the extra SP’s weapon was at the home guard. The defendant shot his wife one round at close range, ”said Srinivasulu.

Mr Hanumantha Rao said the home guard tried to mislead his in-laws and investigators said the gun failed. During questioning, he confessed to having committed the crime.

Bhavanipuram police registered one case and arrested the accused.

He was booked under Section 302 IPC (Murder) and Section 27 (1) of the Indian Arms Act, the ACP said.
