TDP chief Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao accused the YSRCP government of trying to corner him on a CID case for allegedly highlighting “transformed” videos and dared arrest him on Sunday “if they believed he was involved in the case”.
Speaking to the media during his campaign for Tirupati Lok Sabha Bypoll, Uma Maheswara Rao said he had only disclosed Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s intentions on various issues and insisted that “there would be no transformation”.
The video in question shows the Prime Minister giving a speech in which he allegedly said that “given the pace of development in the Temple City during the TDP regime, educated people would not want to live in a place like Tirupati”.
The video went viral before the ruling party and state government took notice.
“We have only shown the CM’s perspective on Tirupati. How come to transform?” asked Mr. Uma Maheswara Rao.
He also accused the CID of abusing the law by using irrelevant sections of law against him in the case, pointing out that “nowhere was the word changed”.
The former minister also harassed the state administration for being “unable and indifferent” to have agreed to bring the irrigation projects into the state under the supervision of the Krishna River Management Board (KMRB) in what he called a “disappointment”.
“With this move, the YSRCP government has seriously harmed the interests of the state and its farmers,” he said.
