Four officers suspended for deaths from Kurnool gastroenteritis

District collector G. Veerapandian suspended four officers on Saturday for the death of four people from gastroenteritis in Gorukallu in Panyam Mandal and Arun Jyothi Nagar Colony in Adoni Township.

An official press release states that B. Pavan Kumar, AE, RWS, Panyam, G. Vijaya Bhaskar, Gorukallu Village Panchayat Secretary, T. Rajasekhara Reddy, AE, Water Supply, Adoni Parish, and M. Eranna, Turncock, Adoni Municipality has been suspended from duty pending further appointments.

The collector issued exhibition notes to K. Bhaskar Rao, EO, rural development, Panyam, N. Umakanth Reddy, DE, RWS, Panyam, G. Suresh, DE, water supply, Adoni municipality and A. Satyanarayana, EE, water supply, why none Action should be taken against them, making them responsible for cases of gastroenteritis.

Two committees have now been set up to investigate both incidents. The board to investigate the Gorukallu incidents will be headed by Nandyal sub-collector Kalpana Kumari, while RWS, Kurnool, HE Vidya Sagar and district panchayat officer Prabhakar Rao will be the members.

The panel, led by Adoni RDO Rama Krishna Reddy, with HE R. Sreenath Reddy from Public Health and Surendra Babu from KMC SE as members, will investigate death in the Adoni Ward.

Meanwhile, the state government has granted the relatives of each of the four people who died in the last week in the GE cases £ 3 sterling – three in Gorukallu and one in Adoni.
