58.07% of the votes were polled for minor violence in Anantapur

Sporadic incidents of minor violence were observed in the ZPTC and MPTC elections in Anantapur district on Thursday as voter turnout remained low at 58.07%. 62 ZPTC and 782 MPTC seats in the district were polled, and of the total of 22,83,065 voters, only 13,25,748 people exercised their right to vote.

However, the polls in the Kurnool district remained peaceful with a percentage of 60.28%. Elections were held for 36 ZPTC and 484 MPTC seats.

In the village of Regatipalli, in the constituency of the Dharmavaram Assembly, some YSR Congress Party employees reportedly attacked the home of Chilakam Madhusudhan Reddy, Chilakam Madhusudhan Reddy, the state political committee member of the Jana Sena Party, and damaged the windshield of his car in the afternoon. The responsible Rayalaseema party of the Jana Sena party, Nadendla Manohar, issued a statement condemning the attack, claiming that the YSRCP workers had threatened Madhusudhan Reddy’s wife Chayadevi.

Voting started more slowly in the morning and there was little enthusiasm among voters in the villages. After 1 p.m., some people were seen at the polling stations. In the afternoon, however, voters stood in queues at pool stalls.

Anantapur collector Gandham Chandrudu and police superintendent B. Satya Yesu Babu visited several booths and monitored the pooling process.

Polls peacefully in Kurnool

In the Kurnool district, 9,38,379 people ran their franchises, with Allagadda Mandal recording the highest percentage of 74.42 while Velugodu recording the lowest percentage of 40.94%, said Collector G. Veerapandian.

Elections were held for 36 ZPTC and 484 MPTC seats in the district. Police superintendent, Fakkeerappa Kaginelli, praised the police for ensuring that there was no violence.
