The Sarva Darshanam in the Temple of Lord Venkateswara will be temporarily suspended from April 12th.
The decision was made amid an extraordinary increase in COVID-19 cases across the country. However, tokens will be issued until the evening of April 11th for those who have already planned their pilgrimage.
Just last week, the TTD reduced the issuance of SSD tokens to just 15,000 per day.
The abnormal increase in COVID cases in Tirupati has influenced the decision to a large extent as thousands of followers line up to claim the tokens issued daily.
The TTD, which said the pilgrims’ health was of the utmost importance, also stated that the resumption of darshan tokens will be officially announced once normal is restored.
