HC judges a slap in the face of the government: Naidu

National President of the TDP, N. Chandrababu Naidu, welcomed the Andhra Pradesh Supreme Court ruling that retained the State Electoral Commission notice for the ZPTC and MPTC elections.

In a statement on Tuesday, the former prime minister said the court order was a confirmation of the TDP’s decision to boycott the elections.

The SEC issued the notification in violation of Supreme Court guidelines, he said.

Mr. Naidu described the verdict as a slap in the face of the government, claiming the government has little respect for the constitutional institutions and their leaders.

“Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSRCP should begin to act in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution. The state election commission should issue a new communication and start the electoral process again, ”said Naidu.

Mr Naidu advised the Prime Minister to follow the orders and guidelines of the courts and to respect the autonomy of the constitutional institutions, and urged the State Election Commissioner to act independently.
