The President of the Andhra Pradesh Intellectual and Citizens Forum (APIC), Fr. Vijaya Babu, has accused the Union government of having discriminated against the southern states, especially Andhra Pradesh.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the center had wronged the state by ignoring promises made.
He said the center continued to make anti-Andhra decisions by refusing special category status, providing adequate funding for the Polavaram project, privatization of the Vizag steel mill, and others.
He asked why the Narendra Modi government didn’t sell 66 other power supplies modeled on the Vizag steel mill. Mr. Vijaya Babu said that the taxes collected by the center from the southern states would be diverted to the northern states, while the southern states had no financial support.
