Fraudulent money retrieved in hours

An intelligence officer defrauded of £ 1.62 lakh by online scammers got his money back within 24 hours of filing a police complaint, thanks to the swift action of cybercrime police.

Police said the victim booked a ticket to travel abroad through a private agency. However, when he tried to contact the agency to postpone his travel dates, a fake travel agent got in touch with him and recorded all of the victim’s details.

“Within a very short time, the fraudster withdrew £ 1.62 from the victim’s bank account. The victim was shocked by the fraud and filed a complaint with the cybercrime police, which took action and traced the money, ”said Police Commissioner B. Srinivasulu.

“The cybercrime experts who started an investigation identified the account from which the transaction was made and canceled the transaction. Efforts are being made to track down the scammers, ”said Srinivasulu on Monday.
