The General Secretary of the North Andhra Development Forum (FDNA), A. Aja Sarma, has called for the unity of all population groups to protect Public Sector Enterprises (PSUs).
It is wrong on the part of the center to openly state that it will sell public sector companies, he said.
The FDNA leader officially opened the fifth day of the relaunch hunger strike launched by all unions and popular organizations near the Gandhi statue on Tuesday.
CITU leaders Peethala Appa Rao, Anaparthi Appa Rao, K. Kumari, P. Venkata Rao, Begum and Pothuraju, AITUC leaders Vamana Murthy, T. Venkateswara Rao, AIDWA leader Mounika, and SFI leader Raghavendra Rao participated in the hunger strike on Tuesday.
Mr. Sarma said that the city of Visakhapatnam was known as the “financial capital” of Andhra Pradesh even before the state was divided, due to the large number of power supplies. He warned that if the center continued its plan to sell the Visakhapatnam (VSP) steel mill, profitable power supplies and public land, people would not lay it down. He warned that agitation would intensify if the center did not reverse its decision to privatize VSP.
