BJP MLA from Dubbak in Telangana M. Raghunandan Rao called on the people on Sunday to give the Saffron Party a chance in the election of Tirupati Lok Sabha on April 17th in order to achieve “faster development of the region”.
Mr Rao, who shocked the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti by winning the Dubbak by-election and who fought for BJP candidate K. Ratna Prabha in Naidupeta, Nellore district, argued that an additional MP seat was either for the YSRCP or for the TDP does not provide much difference, except for the addition of a number.
“People should give the BJP a chance for development reasons,” he stressed.
If elected, the bureaucrat-turned-politician could even become a Union minister and her mite could contribute to the development of the state, including the Tirupati region, he argued.
Although the population of the state provided the YSRCP with an overwhelming number of MP seats, they were unable to effectively articulate issues relating to their constituencies in parliament, said Mr Rao.
Regarding the TDP’s decision to stay out of the MPTC and ZPTC elections, he said the TDP was now on the path of political oblivion and the BJP was an alternative to the YSRCP.
Regarding the BJP’s promise to grant Puducherry Special Category Status (SCS) but not Andhra Pradesh, Mr Rao said that both could not be seen on the same basis in terms of central resource allocation, as one is an area the Union and another is a state.
