Request to establish an SHRC office in State

Father Ramu, member of the State Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Association (APCLA), has petitioned the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) asking for all facilities to be made available to the Andhra Pradesh Commission put.

A lawyer. A. Yellamandayya from Tadepalli in Guntur District filed the petition in front of the APSHRC on Friday. The lawyer asked the SHRC to instruct the government to provide the commission in Andhra Pradesh with the necessary staff, offices and infrastructure.

The state government appointed the chairman and members of the commission on March 21. However, no office space was given to the SHRC, so people could not turn to the commission to petition, Yellamandayya said.

“As there is no SHRC office in Andhra Pradesh, people have no access to justice and there is no mechanism to receive complaints directly, which is a clear violation of fundamental and human rights,” said the lawyer.
