Lakshminarayana files PIL against VSP sale

Former CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana filed a public interest litigation motion with the AP High Court on Tuesday, in which the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) decision on the proposed 100% strategic sale of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited company (RINL) was contested unit of the Visakhapatnam steel mill.

He said the decision was unconstitutional and also violated Articles 12, 14, 19, 21, 300-A and 226 of the Constitution.

He asked the court to overturn the CCEA’s decision and order the Union Treasury and Steel Ministry to take alternative measures to revitalize the first and only integrated public sector steel mill on land.

In his PIL, he appointed the Secretary of the Union Treasury Department, the Secretary of the Union Department of Steel, the Secretary of the Department of Mines and Factories, the AP Chief Secretary, RINL CMD, and the District Collector to be interviewed.
