Sexual assault case: Police publish photos of suspects

Guntur Urban District Police, investigating the alleged sexual assault on a girl on the banks of the Krishna River, released photos of two suspects who are at large.

A 20-year-old girl who was taking her boyfriend on a trip to the Pushkar Ghat in the village of Seetanagaram in Tadepalli was allegedly sexually assaulted on the evening of June 19.

Police released photos of suspects – Venkat Reddy and Krishna from Chirala and Machilipatnam – who had fled since the incident with their cell phones turned off.

Investigators from Guntur Urban and Vijayawada Police Commissionerate visiting the site interrogated and interrogated many suspects from Krishna and Guntur counties.

“We rounded up a lot of suspects, including rowdy sheeters, ganja addicts, blade batch offenders who often roam the riverside. However, the main defendants are at large, “an investigator said on Sunday.

TDP stages Dharna

Meanwhile, TDP leaders and women’s organizations blamed the government, saying the defendants have not been arrested a week after the incident.

TDP activists staged a dharna at the Pushkar Ghat and demanded that the accused be arrested at the earliest and that police protection be given to the victim.
