Andhra CM is releasing the first installment of Jagananna Vidya Deevena for 2020-21

Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday released the first installment of fee reimbursements under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena program worth nearly £ 672 billion. The money was sent directly to the bank accounts of mothers of 10.88 lakh students who were graduating from college.

On that occasion, Mr. Reddy said the program is designed to make education accessible to the poor and that education is the real wealth that can be given to future generations. This was because education alone can eradicate poverty and change their lives.

He noted that none of the previous governments had reimbursed the arrears on such a large scale.

The Prime Minister also said the state government is committed to the education sector and has therefore implemented programs such as Jagananna Goru Mudha, Amma Vodi and Vasati Deevena to ensure that no family goes into debt due to the financial burden of education.

So far, a total of 4,879 crore have been spent under Jagananna Vidya Deevena, from which 10.88 lakh students have benefited. The money used to be paid out to college owners, but from now on it will be deposited into mothers’ bank accounts.

Beneficiaries could call toll-free 1902 if they have problems using the system.

The second installment of fees would be released in July, the third in December, and the last for 2020-21 next February.

An amount of GBP 4,208 billion has been released for fee reimbursement for the years 2019-20. In addition, fees for 2018-19 of £ 1,880 billion were paid.

Deputy Prime Minister Dharmana Krishnadas, Ministers Adimulapu Suresh and Ch. Venugopala Krishna, Chief Secretaries K. Satish Chandra (Higher Education), G. Anantharamu (British Columbia Welfare) and G. Jayalakshmi (IT), and the AP State Councilor for Higher Education K. Hemachandra Reddy were present.
